Before the white man, before the Crow Indian, and long before the buffalo, the wooly Mammoth roamed the land. The western Indians of the time hunted the Mammoth and documented the hunts with cave paintings. Some of these paintings or pictographs are still visible. These archaeology sites, just minutes from downtown Billings, was the home for these paintings and the Indians. We will take a short hike to view the Pictograph Cave, Ghost Cave, and Middle Cave.
Clark on the Yellowstone

Indian lore will be shared as you rest under the shade viewing the Yellowstone River and listening to the birds. We will bring you up in time from the fur trading era to pioneer settlement and present day farming and ranching with a stop at the Agriculture Center.
